About

Masr Bokra (Mass-er Boke-rah) means ‘Egypt Tomorrow’ in Arabic. We help young Egyptian factory workers towards a better future.

Our team of 10 teachers and healthcare staff visit child workers in brick factories on the outskirts of Cairo, Egypt. We provide essential healthcare and basic education to children and young adults who otherwise wouldn’t have access to it.

Our aim is to improve living and working conditions in the 16 factories we currently work with. In the long term, we hope that this will set an example for other factories, improving life for all workers in the area.

Our hope is that one day, no child will have to work. Until that day arrives, we will work to ensure that all young people have access to education, medical attention and the opportunity to play and grow as people.

Masr Bokra is a registered Egyptian NGO founded by Project Director Salwa Kedees. We worked for 8 years as part of the Spirit of Youth Association, Cairo, and have been registered as a separate organisation since November 2013.

We are currently funded by the Sharkawy & Sarhan Law Firm and voluntary donations. Past supporters include CIDA Canada. We also work in partnership with local youth organisations to share resources and volunteer support.
